God's first command to Adam is to care for all that God has created. In Genesis 2:15 God instructs Adam to abad and shamar - literally translated 'to serve and to care.' We are called to be careful servants in God's garden- His creation.  

Renewal believes that service is an essential element in caring for creation. Many of Renewal's participants, friends, and allies are already serving God's people and the whole of God's creation whether through tending an urban garden that provides food for a local community, cleaning up a park, or taking children outside to teach them about God's creation. 

Renewal encourages all of its participants and friends to actively care for creation through service. Renewal will provide opportunities, support, and resources so that individuals, groups, and churches can engage in joyful service caring for creation thereby serving God's people and taking care of God's creation. Once a year, Renewal - guided by its student leadership team - will organize a national day of service to bring together and focus the collective and full efforts of the Renewal network to make a noticeable difference in God's world for God's world!
